Four Cornerstones

In an effort to promote and improve the quality and value of health care, the President recently signed an Executive Order.  Part of the Order calls upon health care leaders (employers, providers, vendors, etc.) to support 'Four Cornerstones of Value-Driven Health Care' by signing a Statement
of Support for this important initiative.

The Four Cornerstones are:
1.) Connecting the system - broad use of information technology.
2.) Measuring and publishing quality - by using benchmarks for quality care.
3.) Measuring and publishing prices - ideally focused on a 'episode' of care.
4.) Create positive incentives - for patients, providers, payers, and
employers.

A copy of the Statement of Support is provided at www.hhs.gov/transparency.  C. M. Smith strongly endorses the Four Cornerstones of Value-Driven Health Care, and will work closely with our clients in 2007 to implement these important priorities.
